As NAIDOC week draws to a close for 2017, I wonder how many of us will think more about (and perhaps explore) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages? The fact that only 120 of these languages are still spoken, and that this number will probably decrease further as Elders pass away, is surely of concern. When languages are lost, so too are many cultural ties. Language and culture are important parts of what define us as individuals.
Worth thinking about.
