The remains of a bridge over the Eucumbene River, 26 December 2016

I’ve visited the remains of this bridge before, but probably not for nearly ten years.  Why is it that time seems to move differently as one grows older?  Where does all that time go?

Anyway, back to this bridge.  It once crossed the Eucumbene River just north of Providence Portal.  And when Lake Eucumbene is full, this area is completely under water.  My husband has been fishing here, in his boat.

When the water level falls, remains of  abandoned buildings, of old roads and bridges emerge from the water.  Reminders (to those who lived in the area before the construction of Lake Eucumbene) of how it used to be.  Revelations (to those of us who are younger or newer to the area) that  the landscape has changed.
